IS 1024 Information Systems Analysis and Design

Class Project

The Pittsburgh Regional Business Coalition for Homeland Security (www.pittsburghcoalitionforsecurity.org) is an association of businesses and other organizations dedicated to providing assistance to businesses and the first responder community during times of emergency. They are currently in the process of creating a Web-based facility to provide information to their constituency about large emergencies. The initiative has three goals:

The information is organized by Phase of the emergency: Preparation, Response and Recovery. The information is also organized by type of emergency: Weather-Related, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, High-Explosive, Cyber, Incendiary, Accident. Pittsburgh has already had a number of events in some of these categories.

The class project is a small group project. Each group will be assigned one of these threat categories. The group’s task will be to analyze, design and create a web-based information system that addresses preparedness, response and recovery for an event of that threat type.
